Saudi Arabia: GOSI for Saudi and non-Saudi employees
There is no personal income tax in Saudi Arabia, so the only statutory deduction is GOSI (General Organization for Social Insurance), and it depends on who you are:
- Non-Saudi (expatriate): nothing is deducted from your salary. The employer pays 2% for occupational hazards. Your take-home is your gross minus any company deductions (loans, absence, Iqama fees if your contract puts them on you, which the law normally does not).
- Saudi registered with GOSI before 3 July 2024: 9.75% of basic salary + housing allowance (9% annuities + 0.75% SANED unemployment). Employer pays 11.75%.
- Saudi first registered on or after 3 July 2024: the new Social Insurance Law raises the share by 0.5% every July: 10.25% from July 2025, 10.75% from July 2026, up to 11.75% from July 2028. The calculator picks the rate for today's date.
GOSI is calculated on basic salary + housing allowance only (transport, food and other allowances are excluded), with a contributory wage ceiling of SAR 45,000 a month. If your housing is paid as 25% of basic, enter that amount; if the company provides accommodation, enter 0.
UAE: GPSSA pension for Emiratis, nothing for expatriates
No income tax. Emirati employees contribute to GPSSA: 5% under the old law (registered before 31 October 2023, pensionable salary capped at AED 50,000) or 11% under Decree-Law 57 of 2023 (new entrants, cap AED 70,000); the employer adds 15%. Expatriates pay no pension and receive end-of-service gratuity instead (21 days' basic pay per year for the first five years, 30 days after that).
Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman
All four are income-tax free. Nationals contribute to their pension fund (Bahrain SIO 7% + 1% unemployment, Qatar GRSIA 7%, Kuwait PIFSS 10.5%, Oman Social Protection Fund about 8%). Expatriates contribute nothing, except in Bahrain where everyone pays 1% unemployment insurance on salaries up to BHD 4,000.
United States
The 2026 standard deduction ($16,100 single, $32,200 married filing jointly, $24,150 head of household) is subtracted, then the federal brackets (10% to 37%) are applied. Social Security is 6.2% up to $184,500, Medicare 1.45% with an extra 0.9% above $200,000 ($250,000 joint). Nine states have no wage tax and fifteen use a flat rate, both applied automatically; for graduated states enter your effective rate. 401(k) contributions reduce income tax but not FICA; Section 125 health premiums reduce both.
Canada (2026)
Federal tax is 14% up to $58,523, then 20.5%, 26%, 29% and 33% above $258,482, less the basic personal amount credit ($16,452, reduced to $14,829 for incomes above $181,440). Each province adds its own brackets and basic amount (Ontario 5.05% to 13.16%, Alberta 8% to 15%, BC 5.6% to 20.5%, Quebec 14% to 25.75% with a 16.5% federal abatement). CPP is 5.95% of earnings between $3,500 and $74,600 plus CPP2 at 4% up to $85,000; EI is 1.63% up to $68,900 (Quebec: QPP 6.3%, EI 1.30%, QPIP 0.43%). RRSP contributions reduce taxable income. Ontario's surtax and Health Premium and other provincial credits are not included, so treat the figure as a close estimate.
United Kingdom (2026/27)
Personal allowance £12,570 (tapered away between £100,000 and £125,140), then 20% to £50,270, 40% to £125,140 and 45% above. Employee National Insurance is 8% between £12,570 and £50,270 and 2% above. Workplace pension contributions reduce taxable income. Scotland's bands differ.
Pakistan (tax year 2026)
Salaried slabs under the Finance Act 2025: nil up to PKR 600,000 a year, 1% to 1.2 million, 11% to 2.2 million, 23% to 3.2 million, 30% to 4.1 million and 35% above, plus a 9% surcharge on the tax when income exceeds PKR 10 million. Employers deduct one twelfth of the annual tax each month.
India (FY 2026-27, new regime)
Standard deduction ₹75,000, then slabs of 5% to 30% starting at ₹4 lakh, a Section 87A rebate that makes tax nil up to ₹12 lakh of taxable income (with marginal relief just above it) and 4% cess. EPF takes 12% of basic salary (statutory ceiling ₹15,000 basic). The old regime with 80C and HRA deductions is not modelled.
